New doctoral fellows at the IMPRS-SPCE in fall 2017

The MPIfG once again welcomes new young researchers into the doctoral program of the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE): Elifcan Çelebi, formerly of Bogaziçi University, Istanbul, will examine the topic of how women in Turkey experience changing gendered welfare policies; Laura Gerken, a graduate of the University of Bonn, will investigate the role of civil society in bargaining processes of large-scale land acquisition in the Global South; Andrés López Rivera, formerly of the Universidad de Los Hemisferios in Quito, Ecuador, will analyze the state of epistemic authority in transnational environmental governance; and Hannah Pool, formerly of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, will research the economics of the human smuggling of refugees and migrants to Europe. The IMPRS-SPCE is a joint international doctoral program offered by the MPIfG and the University of Cologne, with the University of Duisburg-Essen as an associated partner. There are currently nineteen researchers enrolled in the program.
