Alexandra Hees awarded doctorate
Alexandra Hees received her doctorate from the University of Cologne in April 2020. In her dissertation, “Eine ‘grüne’ Zukunft für Kunststoffe? Die Entwicklung von Märkten für Biokunststoffe,” she explores the tension between perceptions of the future and market creation processes, reconstructing the development of markets for bioplastics from the 1970s to the present day from an economic sociology and cultural sociology perspective. Her study contributes to the sociological understanding of the transformation of markets. Alexandra Hees was a doctoral student at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) between October 2015 and March 2020 and is now Programme Associate at Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule Zürich (ETH Zurich).
