Alina Marktanner awarded doctorate
Alina Marktanner was awarded her doctorate by the University of Cologne in April 2020. Her dissertation, “Vom Verbände- zum Beraterstaat? Unternehmensberater in der öffentlichen Verwaltung der Bundesrepublik, 1945 bis 2003,” explores how business consultants came to be political actors and how their consulting activities led to new political semantics and practices. Her research takes the consulting firms Kienbaum, McKinsey, and Roland Berger as example cases. From October 2015 to March 2020 Alina Marktanner was a doctoral student at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE). She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the MPIfG.
