Lukas Haffert elected to the Junge Akademie
MPIfG alumnus Lukas Haffert is to become a member of the Junge Akademie. The Junge Akademie at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina is an interdisciplinary research platform for young scientists. Haffert will hold membership for a five-year period and is to be officially elected at a ceremony in Berlin on 30 June. Ten outstanding young researchers are elected to the Akademie each year. A core criterion for election is an outstanding PhD. From 2010 to 2014, Haffert was a doctoral student at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE). His dissertation on the political economy of budget surpluses was awarded the Max Planck Society’s Otto Hahn Medal and the German Thesis Award from the Körber Foundation. Haffert is currently a senior researcher for the Professorship for Swiss Politics and Comparative Political Economy at the University of Zurich.
