Marina Hübner awarded doctorate
In June 2018, Marina Hübner was awarded her doctorate at the University of Cologne. Her dissertation on the political economy of European capital markets union argues that the unexpected political comeback of securitization and shadow banks needs to be analyzed in the broader context of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) macroeconomic governance reform. Mobilizing the market is a bet of European policymakers that an increase in the degree of private risk sharing within the EMU postpones the politically sensitive issue of form and extent of public fiscal risk sharing between euro countries. From 2014 to 2018, Marina Hübner was a doctoral student at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the MPIfG.
