Michael Kemmerling Receives Doctorate

Michael Kemmerling was awarded his doctorate in December 2023 by the University of Cologne. In his dissertation, “Unternehmensmacht im digital(isiert)en Kapitalismus” (Business power in digital capitalism), he explores the fundamental changes that capitalism has undergone in the process of digitalization. Expanding the debate to include the power of the platform economy, Kemmerling analyzes how digitalization influences companies‘ power resources, political preferences, and lobbying strategies. Michael Kemmerling was a doctoral researcher at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) from 2020 to 2023. He is currently a senior researcher at the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics of the University of Cologne.
